Scott McFarlane
President and Founder
Scott McFarlane founded Graphite Consulting in 2016 after spending more than ten years leading development and special projects teams in the medical device and pharmaceutical industries. In that time, his experience spanned new product development, major redesign of existing products under recall and CAPA, Design Control System Remediation, Design History File Remediation under FDA Warning Letter, multiple 510(k) clearances, NDA and ANDA supplements, and foreign and domestic manufacturing site transfer.
For four years, Scott held roles in R&D Program Management where he successfully managed staffing, project leadership, and technical leadership of mixed teams with internal and contract/consultant resources from R&D, Quality, Regulatory and Manufacturing Operations. He understands the unique challenges and dynamics of finding and integrating the right contract resources into existing teams with diverse backgrounds.
Scott earned his BS in Biomedical Engineering and MS in Bioengineering from the University of Utah and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). He currently resides in Northern Utah.

Abed Mougharbel
Vice President and Co-Founder
Abed helped found Graphite Consulting with Scott McFarlane in 2016 and joined the company as Vice President in 2017. Abed possesses more than thirty years of industry experience, twenty of which are in medical devices. His experience spans Research and Development, New Product Development, and Operations. He spent seventeen years at Medtronic as a Senior Engineering Manager and a Senior Software Applications Manager where he led various development groups in both hardware and software. Prior to Medtronic, Abed worked at GE Semiconductor and National Semiconductor as an Integrated Circuits and Software engineer. Recently, Abed has been involved in consulting, primarily in remediation of Design History Files, topics of which span all aspects of Design Controls. Some of the companies he has consulted are Fresenius Medical Care, Authentidate Inc. and Colorado Medical Devices, among others.
Abed holds a Masters in Electronics and Computer Engineering from the University of Maine, a BSEE from Columbia University and a BA in Mathematics and Physics from Hamilton College. He also performed post graduate work at Rutgers University. Abed currently resides in Phoenix, Arizona.
On a personal level, Abed enjoys the outdoors, especially as an avid fisherman. He also enjoys woodworking and playing classical guitar. He is a strong believer in giving back to the community. He works with underprivileged children and at-risk youth as a volunteer and a mentor.
